Community Building
The LHS Guild strives to build unity through all our community building activities. Outcomes of these efforts are aimed to:
- Increase social connections
- Build camaraderie
- Build loyalty to the school
- Increase volunteerism
- Enhance parent knowledge/skills
- Integrate new families
- Provide a safe family environment
- Provide an opportunity to do charitable works
- Share the gifts of the school with family and friends
- Increase awareness of the Benedictine philosophy
For the 2011-2012 school year, the Guild’s community building efforts will focus on the following areas:
A. Sponsoring the following events/activities/services at no cost to the parents:
- First Day of School reception.
- Back to School picnic.
- Grandparents Day on Monday, April 2, 2012.
- New families and host families coordination.
- Parent Enrichment that includes articles and/or links to web sites that contain relevant and timely information on parenting for Pre-K – 4, and 5-8 grades as well as Benedictine educational resources.
B. Leading the following social events for families:
- Three family nights.
- Two Ladies Nights out events.
- Two LHS Dad activities.
C. Increasing volunteer visibility and retention by:
- Developing a volunteer recognition program.
- Developing a volunteer appreciation program.
D. Providing an opportunity for LHS parents to lead special causes by:
- Identifying special initiatives overseen by a committee that will research and present options to the Administration and the Guild.
E. Providing an opportunity for LHS families to work together as a unit for a charitable cause by:
- Identifying a community outreach project that can involve all families from LHS.
F. Providing funds that support special circumstances that arise throughout the year.
