Annual Initiatives


Each year, the Guild assesses the needs of the school.  We review what events we will fund to build community within LHS, what needs the building structure has, and what needs the teachers have to provide our children with a strong educational experience.   We then assess what funds remain from the previous year, and what funds we need to raise for the current school year.

All Guild efforts fall in to one of five Key Result Areas and funds are typically allocated as follows:

  1. Community Building – 11% of funds
  2. Teacher Support and Enrichment – 31% of funds
  3. Building Structure and Improvement – 55% of funds
  4. Fund Raising – 0% of funds
  5. Guild Operations – 3% of funds

These Key Result Areas are explained in more detail under the “What We Do” tabs, and we encourage you to review them to become familiar with all the efforts the Guild oversees!

2011-2012 INITIATIVES

For the 2011-2012 School Year, the Guild’s goal is to raise $60,000.00.  The money will be used for the following initiatives:

TEACHER SUPPORT AND ENRICHMENT:

  1. Teacher Bonuses (estimated amount:  $7,500.00 raised at the Gala)
  2. Soccer Uniforms (estimated cost TBD)
  3. Mobile Lab Cart (estimated cost $8,000.00)
  4. Student Assemblies (estimated cost $1,400.00)
  5. Teacher Workshops (estimated cost $1,600.00)

BUILDING STRUCTURE AND IMPROVEMENT:

  1. First Floor Tile Replacement (estimated cost: $20,500.00)
  2. Vice Principal’s office renovation (estimated cost: $5,000.00)

As the year progresses, we expect to add initiatives to this list and will update you on the new items.   If you have ideas for what the Guild can potentially fund, please let us know!

TO BE FUNDED THIS YEAR:

The Guild will fund the following initiatives from a combination of monies remaining from the 2010-2011 school year and money we raise this school year:

COMMUNITY BUILDING:

  1. First Day of School reception
  2. Back to School Picnic
  3. Grandparents’ Day
  4. Volunteer appreciation

TEACHER SUPPORT AND IMPROVEMENT:

  1. Faculty Workshops
  2. Student Assemblies
  3. Art/Book Festival
  4. Great Ghost Chase Equipment
  5. Teacher Appreciation
  6. Basketball Nets

BUILDING STRUCTURE AND IMPROVEMENT:

  1. Defibrillators
  2. Medical Bed
  3. Utility Table replacement
  4. Air Conditioners for various locations
