In second grade, students will begin to explore and incorporate the essential writing traits needed to become confident, effective writers. We will follow the 6+1 Traits of Writing model to strengthen writing skills as we learn to write like real authors through Lucy Calkin’s Writer’s Workshop. Throughout the year, students will implement strategies that nurture independence and creativity. In May, we will have an Author’s Breakfast so students can share their favorite authored stories with friends and family.
