Oh my goodness, it’s Open House time here at Linton Hall School! This makes me very happy. Why, you ask? Because this is the time when we let our little light shine for all to see!
In the fall of 2001, when our son was just 4 ½ years old, we showed up at Linton Hall School for the Open House. Little did I know, my heart would be forever changed! My husband and I were led on a tour by a wonderful parent who was genuinely enthusiastic about this awesome school that her daughters were attending. There were terrific teachers who were available to answer curriculum questions, but what resonated most for us was the pride and joy of Linda as she showed us the school.
Decked out in his yellow polo and his navy blue shorts (and wearing a belt for the first time!), Seth marched down the hall to Kindergarten the following August! My husband and I said a prayer and crossed our fingers and hoped that we had made the right decision for our son. Two weeks later, I had confirmation that, indeed, we had made the very best decision!
The Kindergarten teacher had asked for volunteers to help out in the classroom. As I was heading down to the class, the assistant principal stepped out into the hall. When she saw me, she immediately smiled and said, “Hello, Mrs. Finkel! How is Seth enjoying Kindergarten?” That is the very moment I knew that our family had found the perfect place…not only did the assistant principal know my name, she knew that I was Seth’s mom and that he was in Kindergarten!
