Virtual School Tour

Thank you for your interest in Linton Hall School. One of the best ways to get to know Linton Hall School is to visit our campus. Visiting is a great way to learn about the “day in the life” of our Linton Hall School Lynx, to feel the warmth of our family in action and to hear the joyful noise of our students during a school day. Nothing can take the place of touring our building while the children and staff are engaging in learning, but we are excited to share a peek into the life of our programs through the below photo gallery. We encourage you to contact our admissions director for an in-person tour. Contact information can be found on our Admissions page.
Welcome to Linton Hall School’s Virtual Tour.
Welcome!
Founded in 1922, Linton Hall School is located on our peaceful campus of over 50 scenic acres, and is a ministry of The Benedictines Sisters of Virginia. Our campus encompasses Linton Hall School, The Monastery, The Columbarium, Learning Gardens, Labyrinth, Prayer Gardens & Silos, sports fields, playgrounds, walking paths and so much more.
PRESCHOOL
Our Preschool Program, Little Sprouts, is an excellent opportunity for children aged two years to five years to develop the skills necessary to be life-long learners. With a teacher and assistant in each class and small class sizes, we have created a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment designed to ensure all children will achieve at their highest ability while having fun at the same time. (click for more) Our day includes prayer, outdoor exploration, independent and group activities, which nurture a sense of respect for themselves and others as well as a different enrichment class each day to enhance their learning – Spanish, Music, Movement, Art, Hands-on-Science, Library and Technology. Our teachers act as guides, valuing each child’s voice, cultural background and learning style. By observing and interacting closely with the children, we provide the materials and opportunities each child needs to discover and grow, which builds upon the natural curiosity young children have about their world. At Little Sprouts, we challenge students to be creative, critical and creative thinkers, and determined problem solvers who are not afraid to try new things. It all starts with the trust and loving bonds we build with children and their families. A key element of our preschool program is to show our children what caring means and to “Grow Goodness” through random acts of kindness. Role modeling and supporting them in their efforts is much more meaningful than just written words. We focus on observation, patience, and respect for all living creatures, in and outside the classroom.
LOWER SCHOOL
Linton Hall School’s Lower School (K-4) provides a safe, nurturing environment where a firm foundation of academic, interpersonal, athletic, and cultural skills is built for each student. (click for more)
UPPER SCHOOL
The Upper School (5-8) seeks to prepare students to be academically successful at the secondary school level. We build a community of learners with strong faith, character, and kindness who are also confident, creative, and willing to think critically and creatively. (click for more) Mentored by an excellent faculty in a student-centered environment where cultural diversity is valued and intellectual curiosity is central, Linton Hall School offers students the opportunity to excel in an environment that nurtures them as individuals and prepares them for success as they continue their education. Our Upper School students also look forward to special events such as the 8th Grade Trip, Invention Convention, Camp Friendship and Graduation.
LHS COMMUNITY AND ATHLETICS
Our Preschool – 8th Grade students are fortunate to be able to participate in Spanish, Art, and Music classes. The Preschool also participates in Hands-on-Science, Movement, Storytime in the Library, and Technology. The lower and upper school also participate in P.E. three times a week and formal library class weekly. We have dedicated time for technology instruction for all grades. (click for more) In addition to those special classes we have opportunities for community service through our SGA and Leo Club, as well as our monthly school-wide service projects. Fife and Drum, Robotics, Chess Club, 4-H and Ambassadors are just a sampling of our club opportunities! Linton Hall School’s rural setting provides an ideal setting for its Outdoor Conservation, Ecology and Wildlife (OCEW) program, which encourages the observation of nature and hands-on experiences to support all subject areas. Students work collaboratively to maintain the grounds, encourage recycling, and plant and maintain a variety of gardens on campus. Our Athletics Program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to participate in an interscholastic sport each season. Our Sports include: Boys Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Co-ed Golf, Co-ed Running Club, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball and Girls Soccer. Our LHS families are the heart of our community. We have such a supportive Parent School Guild who help to plan fun events throughout the year such as our Variety Show, Pajama Bingo and Fall Fun Fair.
There is nothing we love more than introducing families to our community. Please contact us via email to schedule an appointment to learn more about the difference our school makes in the lives of children and families.
